Mann's junior Kate Borowicz set a meet record and personal best of 10 minutes, 56.32 seconds in the 3200-meter run Thursday evening during day one of the Greenville County Championships at Eastside High School in Taylors.
Mauldin senior Alyssa Kulik, not entered in the meet, held the previous record since 2006 of 11 minutes, 13.63 seconds.
Borowicz's sister, Emma was second in 11 minutes 33.54 seconds.
Mann girls set a new record of 9 minutes, 50.85 seconds in the 3200-meter relay, breaking the 2007 record of 9 minutes, 57.94 seconds (Mauldin). Prior to this Hillcrest held the record since 1999 (9:58.63).
Mann junior Britney Waller set a new record by 30 ft, 2 in. in the girls discus. Waller defended her title with a best mark of 143 ft, 4 in. Greer's Kierra Parks was second (105 ft, 3 in.). The previous record was held since 2005 by Beverly Jeter (Mann.). In 2007 Waller threw a best of 108 ft, 3 in.
Greenville's Sandi Morris defended her title in the pole vault in a new record vault of 10 ft. Morris, a sophomore, cleared 8 ft. in 2007 and winning with a judges decision. Wade Hampton's Brea Kwasnik was second (9 ft.).
Mann girls lead team standings after six events with 178 points. Wade Hampton is second with 132 and Mauldin rounds out the top three with 66.
No meet records were broken during day one of the boys meet. Mann boys are in first with 118 points, Mauldin and Wade Hampton are tied for second with 82 points.
The meet, directed by Ed Boehmke, is in its 40th year and moved to one division in 2007.
