scrunners: What made you decide to run cross country?
alyssa: I thought it was a good way for me to stay in shape once track season came around.

scrunners: What do you remember from your first race?
alyssa: All I remember was saying "this was the worst idea ever."

scrunners: Did you both decide to run at the same time?
alyssa: We both began running track in middle school, but it wasn't until my sohpmore year that I started running cross country. My sister didn't start cross country until her junior year.

scrunners: How has it been to have a twin on the team?
alyssa: I'm used to it because we've been on the same sports teams our whole life, it's nothing new.

scrunners: Do you seeing having a twin on the team helping your running?
alyssa: Not really. I just look at her as another teammate and another person to try to beat.

scrunners: What has been your biggest challenge with a twin on the team?
alyssa: Definitely helping people learn the difference between us. Some people just can't do it!

scrunners: Do you have a specific tradition prior to a race?
alyssa: Just the usual strider or two and some extra stretches. Nothing that could be called a ritual.

scrunners: Do you see you two going to the same college?
alyssa: We don't want to go to the same college, but I can see us ending up in the same school.

scrunners: How will you adapt to college with or without your twin?
alyssa: I think I'll be fine. I'm used to living with someone my age so it probably won't be a problem.

scrunners: How does your coach tell you two apart (if relates to you)?
alyssa: I actually have no idea how my coach tells us apart. No one has ever told me how they tell us apart. Everyone usually asks us how to tell us apart. I just tell them I don't think we look alike.

scrunners: Do you have any other family members that run?
alyssa: My dad was a former soccer player so he ran all the time. But it wasn't until the past year or so that he started running again. He's thinking about competing in a few 5K runs.

scrunners: What do you think it takes to be a cross country runner?
alyssa: You need to be determined, a hard worker, have a good attitude, and a great leader for your teammates.

scrunners: What do you want to achieve the rest of this season and the future?
alyssa: Well, my season has already ended, but my main goal was to complete the season and end with a PR. I have never completed a cross country season because of recurring knee injuries. I am glad to say that I reached my goal and completed my senior year season!
