Catching up with Stanford's Kate Niehaus

scrunners: What did you think of your race and the win at Cold Winter's Day?

niehaus: I was just running the race as a way to get in a workout with some company. I think it worked well for this purpose, and it was fun to see some runners who I haven't seen in awhile."

scrunners: How long did you get to spend at home? Did you get to see family and friends?

niehaus: I was home in South Carolina for a little over two weeks. I was able to spend a lot of time with my family (and our new dog!) and see some friends. It was nice to be home and to have a break from class for a little while.

scrunners: When do you go back to Stanford?

niehaus: I'm back here now; we started class Jan. 6, so things are already in full swing.

scrunners: What do you want to achieve this track season?

niehaus: I'm very excited for the upcoming track season. I think I will be focusing a little more on the longer distances, like the 10K, so I am looking forward to that new challenge. Our entire track team is excited, and we've set some team goals. It will be fun to see what we can do.
