  • Viking Boys Victorious in 3200 Relay at Eastern Challenge

    Four high schools from the Palmetto State competed at the Eastern Challenge on Jan. 24 at Eddie Smith Field House in Chapel Hill, N.C. Dorman, Ridgeview, Spring Valley, and Westside made a presence at the meet. Westside brought both a male and female squad.

  • South Carolina USATF Association Seals Spot for Meet

    South Carolina USA Track and Field Youth Chair Valerie Beesley announced on Friday that University of South Carolina Columbia is allowing the use of Weems Baskin Track and Field complex for the 2004 South Carolina USATF Junior Olympic State Track and Field Championships.

  • Clemson High School Indoor Invitational Saturday

    Clemson University is hosting the 2004 Clemson Indoor Invitational High School Track and Field meet on Jan. 31. This year the event is taking place in the new Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex. In 2003, the meet was not held due to Littlejohn Coliseum renovations, the old location of the indoor track.

  • Greenville Track Club Hires First Club Administrator

    The Greenville Track Club, the third oldest running club in the southeast announced on Jan. 20 the hiring of the clubs first Club Administrator. The Board of Directors made the decision to hire the first staff member for the GTC after being in existence for 34 years.

  • SCTCCCA Honors Outstanding Male and Female Cross Country Athletes

    The South Carolina Track and Cross-Country Coaches Association recognized Outstanding Male Cross-Country Runner Brian Raymond (senior, Spring Valley) and Outstanding Female Cross-Country Runner Kate Niehaus (sophomore, Spring Valley) today at the SCTCCCA Winter Meeting in Columbia.

  • Shealy Enrolls at Cuesta College in California

    Chase Shealy is beginning his collegiate academic and pole vault career this January at San Luis Obispo Campus, a part of Cuesta College. The college is in San Obispo, Calif. Shealy graduated from Brookland Cayce High School in May 2003. Classes start for Shealy on Jan. 20.

    As I, John Olson, scrunners.com site administrator was sitting at my computer and while out running or doing other things in my life for the sports of cross country and track and field I started to think about 2004 and what is going to be done with scrunners in 2004. First off, Happy New Years to everyone. In this article I am going to talk a little about what is going to come up on the site, future plans, a little about myself, my philosophy on coaching, running, etc., the message board, and why I administer the site. Included in this article is information on spreading the site to different areas of running by asking for respectable persons to write respectable articles (credit given).

  • F.I.R.S.T. Announces 2004 Lecture Series Schedule

    FIRST (The Furman Institute of Running and Scientific Training) recently released their 2004 lecture series schedule. Each lecture begins at 4 p.m. on Sundays and is repeated on Mondays at 7 p.m. in the Herman W. Lay Physical Activities Center (P.A.C.) Lecture Hall at Furman University.
