Pee Dee Elite youth runner Lauren Ellis set a new meet record in the girl\'s youth 400-meter dash of 58.71, the only runner to go under 60 seconds in the event.
Graham Rounds Out Top Three In Triple Jump
West Ashley graduate Keith Graham rounded out the top three in the triple jump event with a best leap of 49-10.00. Kali Jackson was first in 50-06.75.
Veronica Salcido (Md.) held the previous record of 59.04 since 2004.
Spartanburg Girls 4x100 Win Heat in Qualifying, Finals Set for Tonight
The Spartanburg 4x100-meter relay team of Norman, Frazier, Erica Peake and Grayson advanced to the finals after winning their heat in 47.24 Friday night. Hempstead High won their heat in a matching 47.24. Harding University (N.C.) holds the fastest time of 47.01 going into the finals.
Spartanburg Girls 4x200 Fourth
Spartanburg\'s 4x200-meter relay team of Patria Norman, Jasmine Grayson, Santresa Jamison, and Arnetra Frazier finished fourth with a time of 1:40.72 Friday night. The team placed third in section three of the event.
Niehaus Fifth In Two Mile
Spring Valley graduate Kate Niehaus finished fifth in the two-mile run at Nike Outdoor Nationals Friday night in Greensboro, N.C.
The Stanford bound runner covered the distance in 10:21.90.
Bria Wetsch won the race in 10:10.50.
Seneca\'s Brookins Finishes Fourth
Seneca rising senior LaKya Brookins (Carolina Roadrunners) finished fourth in the finals of the girls 100-meter dash in 11.76 at Nike Outdoor Nationals. Gabby Mayo was first in 11.42.
Brookins finished first in the both the 100 (11.94) and 200 (24.12) events at the state meet in May as Seneca finished second in team points (91) behind J.L. Mann (121).
