Summer Training: The Citadel\'s Megan Marie Jenkins


Megan Jenkins is a rising sophomore at The Citadel. Jenkins is from Cheyenne, WY and is training around the James Island area this summer.

Weekly Total Mileage: 47 miles
Monthly Total Mileage: 128 miles
Summer Total Mileage: 208 miles

June 19 - 7.5 mile run, 30-minute bike ride
An easy 7.5 miles, again right at about 7:15 pace in the morning. Took the bike out later at night and came in and did some pushups/situps.

June 20 - 6 mile run, one hour bike ride
A faster day but not quite tempo pace, I ran the 6 miles in 41 minutes, 30 seconds so that\'s an average pace of 6:55 per mile but there were some faster and slower miles, I wasn\'t paying attention to the pace. I went out for a solid hour long bike ride around around 4 p.m.

June 21 - 4 mile run
My \"down\" day for the week. I used to run six out of seven days, even five out of seven during the week, but I run every day now so I need to still take one easier day otherwise I just feel really tired constantly. So about 7:45 pace, plus my heel was bothering me a little bit, I iced it and just tried to stay off of it. Later at night I did a core workout, I tried to do as many pushups as possible--I\'m up to 70 now. :D Then some abs.

June 22 - 6.5 mile run
A pretty easy run, an average of about 7:15 per mile again. I slept in so I could see my brother off to Air Force field training before going to class and ran at about 7 p.m...it was still really hot!

June 23 - 6 mile run, one hour 20 minute bike ride
Went for a long bike ride when I woke up and then late in the afternoon I went for an easy six miles.

June 24 - 7 mile run (3 mile tempo)
Warm-up two miles and then about a 20 minute three mile tempo run. I finished with a cool-down of two miles. I felt really good on the tempo, though it was really hot. Then plenty of abs and then lunges around my grandparent\'s house.

June 25 - 10 mile run
Long run in the morning, it was a little humid but not too bad.
