"Just lost my high school cross country and track coach tonight," said Rickey Taylor (track and field captain in 2003). "I am in shock. Coach Mike Moore was a father to me. He created a legacy. He molded boys into men. He showed individuals who were lost the way. Most of all he was there for us when we felt like the world let us down. He was a father to me. I remember one of the last things he said to me after I lost the 400 meter hurdle race to move on to the state meet. 'Rickey why are you crying? I am proud of you, pick your head up and keep pushing!' He always believed in me and my team! I love you Coach Mike Moore and this hurts my soul because GOD always takes the good ones first! With love I will always respect you and remember everything you taught me!!!"
