The third annual Kevin Logan JV Memorial Meet is set for Saturday at Eastside High School in Taylors. The event, held in memory of brothers Kevin Logan and George Simpson, has an entry deadline of Wednesday at midnight.
Entries (as of 11:13 p.m. on April 2)
7-8th grade (no specific order)
9-10th grade (no specific order)
The meet starts at 10 a.m. with field events. Track events start at 11 a.m.
Entry is $2 per athlete or $50 per team and open to any 7-10th graders, even if they compete in varsity meets. Admission is $3 and a rolling schedule is used.
The official meet Web site states the purpose of the meet: "Kevin Logan Simpson, a former track and field and football student-athlete at Eastside High School and brother George H. Simpson Jr. passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005. The event purpose includes an attempt to gather individuals related to Eastside -- including fans and alumni -- to help support this event and show the Eagle spirit Kevin Logan passed along to each individual on a daily basis. All money raised will be donated to the Eastside Special Education Department."
Longtime Eastside coach and Greenville County meet director Ed Boehmke is in charge of Saturday's event.
