17th Taco Bell Classic starts Friday

The 17th annual Taco Bell Classic starts Friday at Spring Valley High School in Columbia. Others meets taking place this weekend include the Furman Invitational in Greenville and 20th annual Woodward Invitational at Heathwood Hall, also located in Columbia.

Women’s 100 meters
Note: Vacant lanes will be filled with college runners.
Miki Barber – a 2003 University of South Carolina graduate was a 2007 World Outdoor 4x100-meter gold medalist; 2007 Pan Am Games 100-meter gold medalist. Barber has a personal best of 11.02 for the 100-meter and runs for Nike.

Ellakisha O’Kelly - while attending the University of South Carolina she held five school records as well as three SEC titles. In the 2000 Olympic trials she made the finals in the 100-meter hurdles.

Melocia Clarke – a native of Jamaica attended Central State University and has personal best of 11.37 in the 100 and 20’ 1” in the long jump.

Men’s 1500 meters
Jason Jabaut - in 2007 ran a personal best in the mile of 3:57.26 was ranked 25th on the IAAF World Outdoor Mile list has a personal best 1500 meters of 3:40.59 and a graduate of Villanova University.

Brendon O'Keefe — the Brown University graduate had a personal best in 2007 the 1500 running 3:41.99. O'Keefe runs for Zap Fitness.

Kyle King — in 2006, the Baylor University graduate had personal bests in the 3,000 meters and 5000 meters in 2007 running 7:55.57 and 13:33.4. Kyle runs for Zap Fitness and has a personal best of 3:42.28 for the 1500
meters.

Ryan Emery – is an Auburn University graduate and now runs for the Atlanta Track Club. Ryan has run 3:54 for the 1500 and 4:08 for the mile.

Brendon Mahoney – alumni of Georgia Tec University has personal best mark of 4:00.24 in the mile, 3:40.19 in the 1500m and 1:47.9 in the 800 meters.

Brain Deal – a senior at Appalachian University has run 3:55 for the 1500 and 8:51 for the 3000 meters.

Josh Houser – a sophomore at Appalachian University ran 4:10 mile this past indoor season.

Patrick Morgan — the Furman junior was second in the 2006 Southern Conference cross country championships. He was named All Conference after finishing second in the 800 at the 2006 outdoor league championships. He has a personal best time of 1:52.37 in the 800.

Matt Gabrielson – runs for Team USA Minnesota, attended Drake University has personal best marks of 3:42.01 in the 1500 and 4:02.59 for the mile. Gabrielson was a member of the 2007 U.S.World cross country team.

Sam Robinson – Graduated from Furman in 2007.

Thomas Morgan - In addition to some strong road racing (seventh at the U.S. 10K championships), this University of Kentucky graduate lowered his 1,500 meters best twice, his 3,000 best twice and his 5,000 meters as well, running a club record 13:40.5 in Heusden, Belgium.

Battery Creek Pepsi Dolphin Invitational canceled
Over 100 teams invited, meet director says

The 2008 Battery Creek Pepsi Dolphin Invitational, scheduled for April 19 has been canceled, coach Chole' Allen said in an e-mail to scrunners.com Tuesday.

"Mainly it's due to a poor response from the invited schools," said Allen. "There were over 100 teams invited. "

High school meets scheduled for April 19 are the Pickens County Championship at Clemson University and Red Devil Relays at Liberty, according to events submitted for the scrunners.com outdoor calendar.
