Sandi Morris breaks American record

Sandi Morris broke the outdoor American record in the pole vault with a leap of 4.93 meters (16-2) at the American Track League meeting in Houston.

Indoor World and American record-holder Jenn Suhr set the previous outdoor record of 4.92 meters in 2006.

The leap was a huge outdoor personal best for Morris, who finished second at the U.S. Olympic Trials and set her previous best of 4.83 meters at the Doha Diamond League in May. She holds an indoor personal best of 4.95 meters and earned the silver medal at the 2016 World Indoor Championships.
