What does it mean to be named to the Shrine Bowl Run team and helping the hospital?
It is a great honor to be named to the team. Being able to help the hospital is important to me because I know how important it is to know that a family member is in good hands.
What did you hear about the Shrine Bowl Run before this year?
I'd just seen all the pictures from the past years and I knew it was for the Shriners Hospital.
What do you hope to experience during the event?
I hope to have fun with the people have have been competing with for the past four years.
How are you preparing to run with a football?
I played football for nine years. I hope I haven't lost the ability to hold a football.
How would you rate your senior season?
My senior season was not great individually, but that was because I was more focused on trying to build a good team. I feel accomplished that I completed my main goal of winning the tegion as a team and I am comfortable with passing the baton to the next leader of the Rock Hill team.
What future goals do you have?
I hope to have a top three finish in state for track and then for college I just want to get as fast as I can
Have you made the decision to compete at the next level? Please explain.
I have not decided where I am going to college yet, but I am definitely planning on running both cross country and track.
How did you get involved with the sport and when?
The summer before my seventh grade year I came out and ran with the team in the summer to get in shape for football. When I finally got to high school I decided that it was time to hang up the football uniform and put on one for cross country.
How have you seen the sport change in the state? Please explain.
When I began running it seemed like there was a runner who was far above the rest. These last few years it has become a lot closer with more people towards the top which leads to more interesting races.
What was your motivation for your final XC season?
My main motivation for this cross country season was to win my fourth team championship in both our region and county meets. After that was accomplished I just wanted to enjoy my last to races.
If there is one thing in the world you could do, what would it be and why?
I would want to go to the summer Olympics and get to meet as many elite runners as I could.
