How did you get involved in the sport?
My father owned and still owns a summer track team (Seneca Gliders), with me being the youngest out of four children. And as a child (age three) I seen my older siblings doing track and wanted to take part in it as well.
From your success in 2016, what do you hope to do this season coming up?
I hope to be continually throwing over 54 feet in shot put, and be the state record holder in discus.
Do you have a specific motivation?
I just always been a competitor my whole life I love the feeling.
What has been your biggest challenge in the sport?
My biggest challenge with my sport is that I have never been able to actually focus on it and it only, because I am involved with school and community activities.
What do you hope to achieve in the future?
Be a national champion and to compete in the Olympics.
What do you hope to achieve this weekend at Bob Jenkins SCTCCCA Coaches Classic?
Shot put 48'9" and discus 160'.
Walk us through a competition for you (from pre until post event).
I honestly do not like to think about my events for the day because I will start overthinking everything, but I warm-up and praise God for giving me the ability and opportunity to perform in my events. And then I trust in the practice time, that I and my dad spent to prepare and compete.
How do you look at being top ranked in the state in the shot put and discus?
It is a blessing and an honor, hard work pays off.
How and when do you start training for track and field?
I take one / two months off, then I will condition and weight-lift two body parts a day, three days a week. And when my season starts I will practice and then weight-lift afterwards.
What goes through you mind during each time you are competing in the throws?
Trust God, and trust my work.
What do you enjoy the most about the Seneca team?
It gives me the opportunity to represent my city.
What do you feel you have learned from your coaches, teammates and the sport?
I learn consistency and never giving up from my sport. And learning faith without works is dead, from my father/coach.
What would like to see happen in the future in the sport?
I want to be an Olympian in this event in the future.
Do you see yourself coaching in the future?
I do not see myself coaching in the future, I see how stressed my dad gets just by coaching me.
If there is one thing in the world you could do, what would it be and why?
I would buy my Dad his own training facility, because he deserves it and he needs his own place to train people. (Chasing Greatness)
