Woodruff's Simpkins named Wendy's Heisman state female winner

Woodruff senior track and field athlete Amy Simpkins was named Wendy's Heisman state winner for girls, according to the official Web site.

One hundred and two state winners are chosen. Each winner receives a letter along with a 50 dollar Wendy's gift card and a silver medal Heisman patch.

A judging panel selects 12 national finalists from 102 state winners.

Two national award winners, one male and female are then announced and each national winner receives a Wendy’s High School Heisman trophy, a Heisman patch, and a $10,000 monetary award for their school.   They will also receive a $500 Wendy’s gift card.
