Taco Bell Set for Saturday at Spring Valley

The 13th Annual Taco Bell Track and Field Classic is taking place this Friday and Saturday at Spring Valley High School in Columbia. Friday's portion of the meet starts at 7 p.m. with the girl's 4x800-meter relay. At 7:30 p.m. the javelin, a non-scoring event is scheduled to take place. Friday's action concludes with the start of the boy's 4x800 relay at 7:45 p.m. The meet resumes at 9 a.m. with the girls 3200-meter and high jump finals. Over 130 schools and 2000 athletes are competing at the meet. 13 new meet records were set at the 2003 competition.

Host Spring Valley released a few select individuals and teams to watch for at the meet. Spring Valley High School, Walton (Ga.) High School and West Lawn (PA.) High School are three boy's teams to look for at the meet. 2003 girls Taco Bell Team Champions Collins Hill are coming back to defend their title on the girls side. 2003 4x800 National Champions Bay Shore (girls, 8:53.26) are also entered in the meet.

Brian Raymond (Spring Valley/2003 CC State Champion), Cade Liverman (AC Reynolds/No. 7 returning hurdler in the nation), Mitch Greeley (Northwestern/Third NIC pole vault), Justin Oliver (Redan/ 24' long jump, 47.27 400m), Keith Hinnant (Bay Shore/47.14 400m, 1:51.62 800m) and Leon Hart (Spring Valley/Auburn University football signee, USA Today Parade All-American, Army All-American Game Participant) are a few select individuals to watch in the boy's portion of the meet.

Kate Niehaus (Spring Valley/Two-time Footlocker Cross Country National Finalist, fourth at NIC mile), Laura Cummings (Bay Shore/NIC Two-mile champion), Angelina Blackmon (Northwestern/2003 Footlocker Finalist), Tiaerra McLaurin (Northwestern/No. 11 returning sprint in the nation), Courtney Champion (Collins Hill/No. 6 returning sprinter in the nation, NSIC 60m Champion), Amberly Nesbitt (JL Mann/NIC 60m runner-up), Sarah Bowman (Fauquier/2:11 800m, 4:45 1600m, and Aleesha Barber (Redan/100 HH) are a few of the female athletes to watch at Taco Bell.
