The running community will have two opportunities the week of Eye Opener to hear Dick Beardsley, a two-time Olympic Trials marathon qualifier, two-time Grandma's Marathon champion and co-winner of the 1981 London Marathon, talk about his running accolades and story of adversity.
"He is best known for his "Duel in the Sun," 1982 Boston Marathon where he got second to Alberto Salazar, said Fleet Feet Sports Greenville on its event post. "Obviously, Dick is known for his many running accolades, but it is the story that comes after that will inspire you the most. His story of adversity, overcoming addictions, and looking death in the eye multiples times, will leave you feeling hopeful."
