MileSplit SC Future Stars: Mauldin's Sydney Mitskavich

MileSplit SC features Mauldin's Sydney Mitskavich in this week's girls cross country future stars feature.

The Maverick is ranked second in South Carolina and fourth in MileSplit US rankings this cross country season for the class of 2031 with a 19:16 5,000-meter run at the Heathwood Hall Highlander Invitational in Columbia.

"She is obviously a great addition to our program, finishing in the top three or four for our team in each of our races this season. Sydney has an incredible work ethic, extremely coachable and has a very quiet, laid back personality. She's very humble, yet also a fierce competitor with a strong finish. What I love most about Sydney is - as a very fast seventh grader, she is the first to complement every one of her teammates on Strava. No matter their grade or the time, she's just encouraging. Sydney is an incredible young lady and teammate in so many ways who also just happens to be very fast." - Shelly Sands, Mauldin girls cross country coach
