S.C. Girls TF Breakthrough Performances: March 9-14

Several South Carolina high school track and field girls athletes recorded personal bests at meets held March 10-14.

Gabrielle Cherry (Blythewood) ran 15.80 in the 100m hurdles at the Blythewood meet on March 11, improving from her previous best of 17.24 set in March 2026. The sophomore finished third of eight competitors and ranks #42 in the state and #6 among sophomores.

Aamari Kelly (Easley) jumped 21-10.6 in the long jump at the Palmetto Jump Games on March 14, bettering her previous mark of 18-11.5. The performance set a school record, moved her to #1 in South Carolina, and earned first place among six competitors.

McKenzie Lindler (Chapin) cleared 11-8 in the pole vault at McDonalds Fryday Night Lights on March 13, improving from 10-6. The junior's school record performance won the event among 11 competitors and ranks #4 in the state and #1 among juniors. Lindler also ran a personal best 17.35 in the 100m hurdles, improving from 17.47.

Anna Dow (Lexington) ran 19:01.16 in the 5000 meters at McDonalds Fryday Night Lights on March 13, dropping from her previous best of 20:12.17. The freshman finished ninth of 10 competitors and ranks #60 in the state and #11 among freshmen.

Shaelynn Walls (Andrew Jackson) ran 2:25.67 in the 800 meters at South Pointe Home #1 on March 11, improving from 3:00.34 set in March 2026. The sophomore's school record performance won the event among four competitors and ranks #88 in the state and #8 among sophomores.

Emileigh Thomas (Belton-Honea Path) ran 12.65 in the 100 meters at the Easley Home Meet on March 10, improving from 13.22. The freshman finished second among 33 competitors and ranks #127 in the state and #10 among freshmen. Thomas also set a personal best of 26.98 in the 200 meters, improving from 27.12.

Laiken Roper (Walhalla) ran 11:53.30 in the 3200 meters at the Seneca Home Meet 2- Developmental Meet on March 10, improving from 12:24.23. The sophomore finished second among eight competitors and ranks #78 in the state and #10 among sophomores.
