South Carolina Boys Highlights: New Balance and Nike Indoors

Ridge View senior Quency Grant finished third in the 55-meter hurdle finals (7.57) at Nike Indoor Nationals in New York. Grant finished second in the 110-meter hurdles during his outdoor debut at the Diamond Hornets Invitational in 14.84 seconds. Grant is the 2025 SCHSL AAAAA Division 1 silver medalist in the 400-meter hurdles (54.79, personal record).

T.L. Hanna's Mekhi Malcolm landed a fourth place finish in the shot put at New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston (19.41m). Malcolm, one of the top ranked returning throwers, was interviewed by MileSplit SC in February. Read the interview here.

Liberty senior distance runner Reid Finley almost broke four minutes in the 1500-meter run at Nike Indoor Nationals with a time of 4:00.51. Finley placed seventh in the New York meet. Finley opened the outdoor track and field season at the Dorman Distance Carnival with a mile time of four minutes, 27.50 seconds (seventh place).

Spring Valley senior distance runner Brendan Hitchcock traveled to New York for the 5,000-meter run at Nike Indoor Nationals. Hitchcock placed seventh in the 25-lap race in 15 minutes, 8.87 seconds. Hitchcock ran a personal best 800-meter run of 2:01.63 at Spring Valley Meet #1 a week before the trip to Armory Track. Hitchcock ran a 4:23 personal best 1600-meter run to finish his junior season with a second place finish at RunningLane Track Championships.
