The USATF South Carolina Association is hosting its Junior Olympic Championships June 10-12 at Irmo High School in Columbia.
The program is divided into six divisions: Sub-bantam (1997 and later), Bantam (1995-1996), Midget (1993-1994), Youth (1991-1992), Intermediate (1989-1990), and Young Men/Women (1987-1988).
Notes from the USATF SC Youth Chair:
The top five finishers in the association championship will qualify for the Regional III Championship (JUly 7-10) at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C. A qualifying competitor (top five per event) with the intent to attend the Regional meet, must declare his or her intent to advance in the Junior Olympics by registering and paying his or her entry fees at their Association meet within one hour after the posting of results.
If fewer than five competitors declare following the association deadline additional entries will be considered. These entries will only be taken from the finalist (top eight) starting with sixth place and will not be taken from the preliminary rounds.
Each competitor must report to the Clerk of Course at least 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the event. In field events, competitors must report to the Field Judge in charge of the event.
Please remember that we are all guests of Irmo High School and would like to be welcomed back. Teams and individuals are asked to keep their area clean.
Calls may not be made for event. Athletes and coaches please be aware what is on the track and the schedule.
Remind them that we may not be making calls so they need to watch what is on track and look at the schedule.
Gate Fees:
Five dollars for two days
Three dollars per day
Coaches and participating athletes will get in free.
Food, t-shirts and pictures will be sold. Presentation to outstanding athletes at 8 a.m. Saturday.
