  • Change into the Shrine Bowl Run Hoodies and T-shirts

  • Tour of the Shriners Holiday Shop

8:15 a.m. - Hand off of Game Ball from Shriners Patient to 1st leg of the relay.

(Directly in front of Shriners hospital circle drop off)

  • The Shrine Bowl Team  will form a tunnel for the first leg to run through. Be patient, there will be a lot of photo ops and we might have to wait on Highway Patrol escorts to arrive.

  • Team will load the bus and follow the first leg.  (2nd leg runners will get in Coach Dentler's car to get to their handoff location.) Once hand off is complete, the 1st leg will hop on the bus and the 3rd leg will get in Coach Dentler's Car to get to the next hand off location. We will repeat this process through 16 legs of the trip!  Coach Stephenson will be on the bus to help you keep up with who needs to get off the bus next!

11:15-30 a.m. (approximately) - QT STOP

  • We will take a break at the QT in Lyman on Hwy 29 (12203 W.  Greenville Hwy, Lyman) for everyone to get off the bus, use the restroom and purchase a snack if you wish! If we are running ahead of schedule we will make this a long stop, if we are behind schedule this will truly be a Quick Stop!

12:15 p.m. Arrive at Spartanburg High School Stadium

  • Once the ball arrives on the campus of Spartanburg High School, we will stop at the front of the stadium for a quick photo and then park the bus and wait for further instructions from Game Officials.

  • Team will enter the back gate together.

  • Some years we line the field with the band and cheerleaders as the football players are introduced.

  • The runners of the final leg (Male and Female with the fastest times at State) will present the ball to the Officials on the field before the start of the game.

  • Lunch will be provided at the game (fried chicken, french fries, coleslaw and drinks)

1:00 p.m. Kickoff

  • Two Shrine Bowl Runners will be selected to be interviewed at halftime.

  • The bus will return to the Shriners Hospital after the start of the game and/or lunch.  The bus will not stay for the game. You may ride the bus back to the Shriners Hospital, or get picked up at the stadium.

2:15 p.m. (Approximately) Bus Returns to Shriners Hospital

What to expect during the run:

  • Shriners Motorcycle Gang will ride alongside the runners in addition to a Highway Patrol escort to ensure safety of runners.

  • The first and second legs of the route will put their belongings on the bus before leaving the Shriners Hospital.

  • Each leg is approximately 1.5 miles.  This is an easy run, no one should "push pace"!  There are hills.  There are some very big and long hills. Take your time.

  • Share the football.  Hand off the football so everyone on your leg has the opportunity to run with it.

  • Parents and friends can meet you at your handoff locations to take photos and cheer.

  • Everyone will ride the bus past the 85 and 26 Interstate entrance ramps for safety.  We will resume the run at the Covenant Presbyterian Church on Hwy 29.

What to bring:

  • You will need to wear the t-shirt or hoodie provided for the duration of the day.  You can wear whatever shorts or warmups are comfortable.  Monitor the weather forecast! We will run rain or shine or cold! If it is raining, bring rain gear and change of shoes!

  • Water bottle and snacks.

  • Feel free to bring a speaker, blanket, a CLEAN playlist etc. . . Don't bring headphones - this is a time to get to know each other!  It is a once in a lifetime experience - don't waste it!
