scrunners: How would you rate your performance at the state qualifier?
watson: I would rate my performance as a warm-up and a little test for myself. In the 100m, I wanted to push myself a little more than normal. Being put in lane 3 is like a boost for me because usually the fastest is in lane 4. But that helped me run my fastest time of the year so far and with that I felt really comfortable. In the 200m, I can say I didn’t really try to push myself as hard mainly to save it because I knew what I had to do in the 4x400m to help lead my team to a qualifying spot. Saving a little helped me run a great split in the 4x400 to get my team the win.
