The entry deadline is approaching for the first annual MileStat.com Elite Track Gala in Richmond, Va. The event is slated for June 10-11. Regular entry deadline without a 10 dollar late fee charge is set for this Wednesday. Individuals or coaches must input their entries into the online system by Wednesday and have a check POSTMARKED on Wednesday.
Entry fees are 10 dollars per individual (regardless of number of events) and 25 dollars per relay. A second late deadline is set for June 6. Entries must put into the online system by this date and entry fees must be POSTMARKED and mailed by this date as well. There is a 10 dollar late fee associated with entries past the May 31 deadline.
This meet will be featuring some of Virginia\'s best track athletes as well as some great competition coming from out of state. The meet will feature several national champions such as Mike Morrison (17-6.50 PV), Katie Doswell (4:53 1600, 2:08 800, 2:47 1000), Marlon Woods (6-9 HJ, 24-0 LJ, 48-0 TJ) and 300 and 400 meter national record holder Francena McCorory (11.62 100, 23.22, 36.96 300, 51.93 400).
McCorory was slated to compete prior to her hamstring injury and she will be getting checked by the doctor this week to see if she can compete again for this weekend\'s state meet. Her status for the meet is questionable.
Plenty of other all-american, state champion, and all-state caliber athletes just from within the state of Virginia will be filling in the fields as well. The meet is having a strong draw among border state athletes as shown by entries already from PA, MD, WV, TN, NC, SC, GA.
The meet has shown even a further draw with athletes coming in to compete from Colorado and Florida such as 4:10 miler Dan Roberts of Colorado and Emilie Amaro of Florida (NIN All-American two-mile).
