Shrine Bowl Run supporter letter

Dear Shrine Bowl Game Ball Run Supporters:
It’s that time of the year again. Time for Football! There have been a lot of big games this season and the playoffs and championships; but none bigger than the game played on December 21, 2013, at Gibbs Stadium at Wofford College. There the top high school seniors from North and South Carolina will take the field for the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. The annual All Star game kicks off at 1:00 PM, and supports the Shriners Hospitals for Children. These players have put forth tremendous effort to make it to this game.
Very early that morning and some thirty-three miles away, another group of high school seniors from all over the State of South Carolina will gather at the Greenville Shriners Hospital for Children. These Senior All Stars have distinguished themselves on and off the athletic field and have worked equally as hard to be selected to bring the game ball to Gibbs Stadium. This is the annual Game Ball Run for the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. While the final preparations are being completed for the big game, these young men and women will be running along the streets of Greenville and Spartanburg Counties to bring exposure to the Shrine Bowl and the mission of the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
It is the mission of Shriners Hospitals for Children to: 1) Provide the highest quality care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and certain other special health care needs within a compassionate, family centered and collaborative care environment; 2) Provide for the education of physicians and other health care professionals; 3) Conduct research to discover new knowledge that improves the quality of care and quality of life of children and families; 4) carry out this mission regardless of the patients’ ability to pay, and without regard to race, color, creed, sex or sect.
You can join with us in supporting these wonderful young men and women in their effort by making a donation. 100% of your donation will go to the Shriners Hospitals for Children in the name of the 2013 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas Game Ball Run. These young people will be out there on that Saturday morning running hard for the thousands of young people who are unable to run at all. The slogan of the Shrine Bowl, which has appeared on every program cover since 1938, is, “Strong legs run, so that weak legs might walk.” This is an appropriate statement to describe the Shrine Bowl football game, now in its 77th year. It is perhaps even more appropriate to describe the Game Ball Run. Since 1986, this has been the annual event leading up to kick off. After their selection for the Game Ball Run, the team meets with many of the patients from the Shriners Hospital at the

Jamil Shriner’s Children’s Christmas Party where they help Santa in handing out presents. On game day, they meet at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville for a tour and a chance to meet with some of these brave young people who are receiving care at the Hospital. Then at the designated time, one of the patients hands the game ball off to the first runner and the marathon begins!
Please take this opportunity to let these outstanding young people know how much you appreciate their efforts, and to help the Shriners of North America continue the tradition of the finest medical care available.
Complete and return this form to be a part of one of the longest running traditions in the Carolinas!
Thank you for your support!
