Other Notes
The Cross-Country course consists of 2 equal 1.55 mile loops and is relatively easy to follow. Each loop includes a ½ mile trail through the woods, with the remainder of the loop around the park. The course is mostly dirt and grass but it includes some asphalt.

Note: Guys who cannot break 32 minutes should run the MS race. (Girls should use their best judgment.)

Directions to VaDuMar Park:
Take Exit 75 off of I-85 and go toward Boiling Springs. (Take a left back over the interstate if coming from Greenville.)
Go about 2.5 miles on Highway 9. You will pass an Ingles and then a shopping center with a McDonald’s on the right. Immediately after you pass the McDonald’s shopping center, you will see McMillan Road. Take a right on McMillan.

Follow McMillan Rd. about 1 mile. The park is on the left.

Spartanburg Christian Academy
Cross Country – Mission Project 2019
Be a Blessing
At Spartanburg Christian Academy, we like to use our home Cross Country meet as a way to give
back to our surrounding community. Instead of charging admission, we ask you to participate in
our mission project. This year we will continue that tradition by asking teams who attend our
meet to support Hendrix Elementary’s “Blessing Bags.”
Hendrix Elementary - “Blessing Bags” are given to selected Hendrix students that depend on the
school for their meals. When school is out, these students often don’t have anything at home to
eat. By bringing nonperishable items (listed below), you become part of the blessing. We pack
the bags as a team and deliver them to Hendrix for distribution throughout the year.
Please join us in supporting this worthy project. If you choose to donate monetarily, please bring
cash or checks made payable to Spartanburg Christian Academy.
What to bring for Hendrix Blessing Bags:
• Individual microwaveable macaroni and cheese bowls or packets
• Individual pop-top Chef Boy Ardee, Spaghetti-O’s or other hot meals
• Individual bags of Goldfish or Cheeze-It crackers
• Individual bags of pretzels
• Cereal bars
• Granola bars
• Single-serve boxes of cereal
• Apple sauce
• Small fruit cups
• Juice boxes or non-refrigerated milk boxes
These students are K4 through Fourth Grade, so think “simple
preparation” (and nut free, if possible) when choosing food items.
Last year SCA’s Cross Country team was able to pack approximately 350 “blessing bags” for
students at Hendrix Elementary! These bags provide a meal option for students who might
otherwise go hungry over the weekends or during school holidays. Over 2,300 food items and
$347 was collected.
This allowed us to provide the following in each gallon-sized bag:
* a hot meal (either Chef Boy Ardee, mac & cheese, noodles, etc),
* a cereal or breakfast item,
* a juice box,
* cheese crackers,
* granola bars
* other snack items.
I hope and pray that our runners were able to see how their efforts can make a difference in
those who are less fortunate and blessed than us.
Here are the item counts of what we collected, in addition to the $347.
111 Mac & cheese
60 chef boy-ardee
19 raman/instant noodles
22 boxes of cereal
44 fruit cups
186 applesauce
12 fruit sticks
12 raisin boxes
140 juice boxes
435 goldfish
276 packs of crackers
309 snack food items (jello, cookies, etc.)
701 granola bars
===========
2,327 pieces ***
**This does not include at least 40 full-sized cans and boxes of beans, corn, pastas, etc.
These cans are not something we can pass along to students BUT last year there were several
students whose homes were involved in a fire, and they were able to pass along the full-sized
food items to help these families. Still a blessing, just not in a bag :)
