Former Clemson coach Bob Pollock dies

Former Clemson cross country and track and field coach Bob Pollock died Saturday in Lexington, Ky., according to the university.  Pollock was 60 years old.

Pollock was diagnosed with lung cancer last August.

"Coach Pollock, as it relates to track and field, is a legend in our sport," said director of track and field Lawrence Johnson in a statement. "His impact on collegiate track and field was tremendous.  I am extremely fortunate to have inherited a program that he developed into championship form for so many years.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.  But, we know he's in a better place."

Pollock led Clemson to 21 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in his 20 years as head coach.
