SCTCCCA summer clinic starts Tuesday

The South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association will host summer clinics in conjunction with the SCACA summer clinic starting Tuesday at the Charleston Area Convention Center.

Tuesday's schedule starts at 10 a.m. with a cross country clinic where current coaches will discuss different parts of the season and the officers meeting.

Chapin coach Jack LeGrand is scheduled to discuss the offseason and preseason. Jim and Eileen Kilbreth (Summerville) will discuss coaching the Kilbreth's way (old school). Dorman coach Jeff Buys will discuss cross country the Dorman way (new school). Ron Sullivan (Daniel) is scheduled to discuss developing a program. 

A coaches meeting is scheduled following the presentations to discuss the upcoming season, according to the official association Web site, sctrackworld.us.

Wednesday starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. with a track and field clinic. Rick Crumpler of Spring Valley and Herbert Glaze of Beaufort will discuss throws and jumps, respectively. Buys and Kwabene (K.B.) Brown of Westside and Quick Striders will discuss sprints and hurdles. Spartanburg coaches Glover Smiley and Shay Rice will discuss developing a track and field program.

A rules meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday and business meeting at 2 p.m., according to sctrackworld.us.
