Friday night update - South Carolina Coaches, Meet Directors Respond to Concerns


South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster declared a state of emergency on Friday and ordered schools in Kershaw and Lancaster counties to close for 14 days beginning March 16 as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The counties were ordered to close schools due to proof of the virus spreading throughout the areas.
In addition, Aiken County suspended athletics for the foreseeable future on Friday due to the virus.

On Thursday, the South Carolina Independent Schools Association suspended athletics beginning March 15 through April 3. The South Carolina High School League announced a holding pattern pending a Superintendent's conference call to discuss the issue on March 16.
