Miedema, a freshman, ran a personal best 5,000-meter run of 16:01.47 to finish fifth at the Region 4-5A Cross Country Championships Oct. 29.

The Wildcat finished sixth at the Lexington County Championships Oct. 22 in 16:13.
Director of Cross Country Sam Oxley told MileSplit South Carolina he will be a key runner for the team in November. Miedema is the number five runner for Lexington, according to the MileSplit SC database.
"Lucas is a leader by example. His work ethic is incredible, and he prepares so well for each competition," said Lexington Director of Cross Country Sam Oxley. "His personality is always so positive and he is an asset to this team and program. I fully expect him to be a key figure for us and we turn our attention to November."
This is Miedema's third year running cross country.
