This will be a bit of an introduction article. For the many of you who do not know who I am, my name is Adam Linkenauger. I am a junior high jumper at Clemson University.

I have a personal best of 7-3.75 in the event. John Olson has allowed me to come on to the site every week for a number of reasons. I am here for all athletes, not just high jumpers. I can give event advice, competition advice, training ideas and workouts, etc. I am also going to give a personal recap of myself, along with the Clemson track and field team during every article.

The following two weeks have been a bit of a daze for me, I am beginning to figure my event out, and I have recorded a personal best two meets in a row (7-2.25, 7-3, 7-3.75). With the ACC Indoor Championships (Feb. 23-25) quickly approaching I couldn't feel more ready, and as a team, I feel we are ready and able to win the ACC championship. So from a training standpoint the next two weeks will be a tapering period. In other words a time to get our strength back, and heal our injuries. We will be ready to give it our all and leave everything we have on the track next weekend!!! Wish us Luck!!

A little tip for all athletes, EAT AND SLEEP WELL DAYS BEFORE A MEET!!! Drink plenty of water, and become mentally prepared for success! Yes, you may be a good athlete who can win your event easily…but the great thing about track and field is you are always in competition with yourself, and that is the best competitor you can possibly have, because you can always push yourself a little farther, faster, or higher.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have, and no matter what your event, if you need advice, I will find a teammate on my team to give guidance.

Good Luck with your training and competitions and until next time.
