Course Viewing
Teams wishing to view the course on Friday must park on Frontage Road that parallels I-585. Runners are not allowed to run on the roads or parking lots of the Roger Milliken Center. All buildings are off-limits. Teams viewing the course must not interfere with the collegiate races that are being contested at 6:30 p.m. (women) and 7:00 p.m. (men). The grounds close at dusk.
Frank Shorter
Frank Shorter (1972 Olympic gold medalist in the marathon) is speaking Friday evening at 6:00 at Spartanburg Day School. Admission is free. He will also be at the Eye Opener Saturday morning to meet runners and sign autographs.
Saturday Parking
Team busses and vans should enter the Roger Milliken Center via Business I-85. Other vehicles may enter RMC via Business I-85 or Boiling Springs Highway (S.C. Highway 9). Please pay close attention to security personnel and volunteers who will be directing traffic. It is imperative that traffic continues to flow into the RMC so that it does not back up onto the interstate. Please forward this information to parents.
T-shirts
Nike technical t-shirts will be sold for $25. Proceeds offset the expenses of staging the Eye Opener. Please encourage your runners to purchase shirts so we can continue to offer free entry for high schools.
Fluids
Schools are expected to bring their own fluids.
Arboretum
The campus of the Roger Milliken Center is an arboretum. Please respect the grounds. Ensure your team area is free of trash upon departure.
Declarations and Entries (International/Championship)
Teams do not need to declare which division they will enter. Teams must not enter both varsity divisions. The International Division is the more competitive division.
