GREENVILLE -- Following a strong fourth-place performance at the Pre-Nationals Invitational on Saturday, the Furman men's cross country team moved up one place to rank 24th nationally by Flotrack and gained one spot to move into second place in the Southeast Region, the Paladins' highest regional ranking in the history of the program. Led by the Eagles of Milton, Georgia squads captured all the team titles and many top-10 individual awards at the Furman University Golf Course at the 42nd rendition of this meet. Conditions were very humid but the course was well-groomed and included a log to jump on each of the three loops that make-up this iconic venue.
Riverside girls missed the team title by eight points in the Disney Classic elite race, the Maleficent, to Lake Braddock (Va.). Lake Braddock averaged 18:56 and Riverside 19:07.
The Riverside cross country teams left Wednesday in preparation for the Disney Classic and the girls team is the favorite for the elite team competition race, according to the virtual meet.
