8:30 am Boys International Race (limit 14)
9:00 am Girls Championship Race (limit 10)
9:30 am Boys Championship Race (limit 10)
10:00 am Girls Junior Varsity Race (no limit)
10:30 am Boys Junior Varsity Race (no limit)
Coaches do not need to declare which races they will enter. Teams may enter only one varsity race. Pleaseadhere to maximum entry limits for varsity races - International (14) & Championship (10). There is no limit to the number of entries for the Junior Varsity divisions.
The International Division is reserved for schools who are members of their state NFHS governing body, or schools approved by these entities (such as SCISA & GISA).
We are expecting 110 teams. Please plan to arrive early, as there are only two entrances into the Roger Milliken Center. Buses and vans must enter from Business I-85 entrance. Other vehicles may enter from either Business I-85 or the Boiling Springs HIghway/SC Highway 9 entrance.
Alternative - Consider parking along I-585 Frontage Road.
Other Important Notes
Athletes must not warm up on the roads or parking lots of the Roger Milliken Center. There is ample room to warm up behind the start/finish areas. Building are off-limits. Runners are not allowed to wade in the ponds.
Schools should bring their own fluids (the arboretum has no water source). There will be limited water for runners at the finish line.
Dick Beardsley; Friday evening at 6:30 at USC Upstate (HPAC Auditorium - 170 GramblingDrive; Spartanburg)
Our featured speaker this year is Dick Beardsley, who (for a short time) was the most famous runner/athlete in the world when he was cut off by a motorcycle in the final stages of the 1982 Boston Marathon He eventually finished two seconds behind Alberto Salazar, in a contest that is often called one of the most memorable in marathon history.
Dick is an extraordinary motivational speaker who has authored an international best selling book Staying the Curse, A runners Toughest Race and is the subject of the best selling book Duel in the Sun: Alberto Salazar and Dick Beardsley and America's Greatest Marathon.
