AAAA Qualifier Regulations

All region qualifiers will go to Spring Valley High School on Saturday, May 7, 2016 and the
top eight competitors in each event will qualify for the State Meet. (See time schedule in
paragraph X below.)

III. Qualifying for the 100M, 200M, 400M, 100HH, 110HH, 400M IH, 4x100 Relay, and 4x400
Relay will be a follows:
A. There will be five heats in each event. They will be seeded based on times from
the Region track meets - serpentined.
B. The heat winner and the fastest three non-winning electronic times will qualify for the
state meet.

III. Qualifying in the 800M, 1600M, 3200 and 4x800 Relay will be as follows:
A. There will be THREE heats in the 800, 1600, and 4x800. They will be seeded
based on times from the Region track meets - serpentined.
B. The heat winner and the fastest five non-winning electronic times will qualify for the
State Meet."
C. There will be TWO heats in the 3200. They will be seeded based on times from
the Region track meets - serpentined.
D. The TWO fastest times in each heat will qualify automatically. The next FOUR
fastest times out of both heats, combined, will qualify for the state meet."

V. Qualifying in the Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, and Discus will be as follows:
A. There will be three sections in each event. They will be seeded based on best
distances from the Region track meets - serpentined.
B. Each competitor will take six jumps. Each section winner and the best five nonwinning
distances from all the sections will qualify for the state meet.
C. All ties for the eight qualifying positions will be broken according to the National
Federation Rule Book.

VI. Qualifying in the high jump and pole vault will be as follows:
A. There will be one section in each event and it will be seeded like the running events.
B. All competitors will compete at the same time until eight are left. Those who qualify
have the option of stopping or going to a higher height.
C. All ties for the eight qualifying positions will be broken according to the National
Federation Rule Book.
D. The starting height for the girls’ high jump will be 4’8”. The starting height for the
boys will be 5’8”.
E. The minimum starting height for the girls’ pole vault will be 7’ 0” and for boys 9’0”.
The pole vault will begin 6” below the lowest qualifying height.
F. The progression of the high jump will be 2” and the progression of the pole vault will
be 6”.
