I AM AN OLYMPIC SILVER MEDALIST. Is this really true? Did I dream it?! The emotions I am feeling right now are impossible to describe... Tonight was such a roller coaster. This whole season has been a roller coaster! Back in May when I fractured my wrist, I wasn't even sure if I would be able to make the Olympic team. I managed to get here anyway, and that alone was a blessing. To turn things around and take home a medal of ANY color is such an honor and I am so freaking happy. Yes, I know all of you are wondering how I feel about almost grabbing the gold on my last attempt.... Well, it's bitter sweet you guys. For a split second in the air I thought I was a gold medalist. One. Split. Second. And then I hit the mat and the bar didn't stay... And for one fraction of a millisecond I was about to be disappointed, and then I thought to myself "you idiot..." because it took so much to get here in the first place. There is no way I am going to let myself be disappointed. Although, I can guarantee that split second memory of what gold tastes like will stick with me, and drive me right through to Tokyo 2020. #TeamUSA #Honored #USA #Polevault #Lovemyjob #America #Trackandfield #USATF #Nike :flag_us::flag_us::flag_us::heart::trophy:

"I am extremely proud and misty eyed over Sandi winning the Olympic Silver Medal!! She had huge height over 4.90m (16' 0.75"), but somehow barely knocked it off. It just wasn't her time to win the Gold. Knowing Sandi it will fuel her fire to break the world record which is only about 6" higher. Such and awesome competition and congratulations to everyone who made it to the Rio Olympics!" - Coach Rusty Shealy said on facebook
