SCTCCCA Announces Assistant Cross Country Coach of the Year

The South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the 2020 assistant coach of the year for cross country Monday night.

Greer Middle College's Angie Dentler was announced as the honoree.

The association released the following statement from the submission form for the honor:

"Coach Dentler has served as an assistant coach at GMC for over six years. Prior to that she was athletic director and head boys and girls cross country coach at Blue Ridge Christian Academy. This past year she also served as interim assistant athletic director at GMC. Her responsibilities include helping to develop our meet schedule and practice schedule and completing our eligibility on PlanetHS and communicating with our parents concerning pre meet meals, snacks and uniforms. She has worked to coordinate transportation to weekday meets and Saturday invitational meets, which is a challenge for us because of the size of our teams and having a limited number of busses. Before this year's Disney Invitational was canceled she was developing the trip schedule. Coach Dentler has coordinated these trips the past five years. Her biggest contribution to our program is keeping me straight, focused and somewhat on time. And, she is in favor of adding the 4x200-meter relay to track."

Dentler will receive the award during the summer association meeting.
