A Look Back at 2022 SCHSL Cross Country State Championships

Class A

Girls A: John Mark Elliott (Christ Church)

Boys A: Jeremy Heinold (Brashier)

Christ Church captured the Class 1A girls cross country state championship with a narrow 49-51 victory against defending champion Dixie earlier this month at Clemson Sandhills Research Center in Columbia.

The Cavaliers were led by junior Elise Reed with a third-place finish (21:05.98). Sophomore Eliza Roy placed fifth, while junior Hope Springhart finished seventh for CCES.

St. Joseph's (55) finished third, while Southside Christian (90) and Bridges Prep rounded out the top five.

St. Joseph's Nina Brown was individual medalist with a time of 19:52.52. Dixie eighth-grader Ashten Stoll was runner-up (20:00.80).

Brashier narrowly edged defending champion Southside Christian 50-51 to claim the boys title. Brashier was led by senior Charles Poe with an eighth-place finish (18:00.49).

St. Joseph's (54) was third, followed by Christ Church (72) and Governor's School (202).

Southside Christian sophomore Grayson Gibbons repeated as individual medalist with a time of 16:15.99. Christ Church junior Jack Hinds was runner-up finishing at 16:51.24.
