Greenville avenged last year's loss to defending champion James Island by claiming the Class 4A girls cross country state title with a 42-69 win earlier this month at Clemson Sandhills Research Center in Columbia.
The Red Raiders were led by individual medalist senior Caroline Lyerly with a time of 18:31.67. She placed third at last year's meet. Greenville placed three runners in the top 10. Northwestern (127) placed third, followed by Bluffton (145) and Riverside (167).
Greenville repeated as boys champion after taking a 70-114 win against Eastside. Red Raiders junior Knox Young claimed a second straight individual medalist title with a time of 15:58.59. Greenville senior Roger Brown finished sixth (16:50.67).
