Union athletic director, cross country and track and field coach Mike Massey was hit by a car Wednesday morning near his home.
Union County Superintendent of Schools Thomas White said in an e-mail, "Mike was struck by a car. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening at this time, however the injuries are serious. He is currently at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center."
Massey, a 2001 inductee in USC-Upstate, then USC-Spartanburg, hall of fame, coached at the college from 1990-1995.
