The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Tuesday the state-by-state winners of its inaugural High School Coach of the Year award.

Burke alumna Raven Saunders, indoor and outdoor national record holder, is competing Saturday in the shot put at the USATF Junior Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND -- The Big South Conference announced Thursday evening at its Spring Meetings Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner that Winthrop women’s track/cross country runner Jeanne Stroud is the Big South Conference’s Woman of the Year.

After his breakout performance in the 1500m at the 2013 U.S. national championships, Matt Elliott continues to thrive with high mileage and a full time job.

The 2014 SCRUNNERS Meet of Champions was May 24. 

Terrance Herrington, a Hartsville native, was a four-time NCAA All-American and five-team ACC Champion as a middle distance runner for the Clemson Tigers from 1985 to 1989. Herrington will be making an appeance at the SCRUNNERS Meet of Champions Saturday.

During her sophomore year, Burke High student Raven Saunders found herself overwhelmed by school, troubles at home, relationship issues and athletics. She had a lot going on. (via The Post and Courier)

Saturday was a banner day for the Lower Richland boys track and field squad, as the Diamond Hornets placed third at the S.C. High School League Class 3A track and field championships at Spring Valley. Hanahan won the team title with 87 points, and Daniel finished as runner-up. (via www.thestate.com)
