Chris Kling's introduction to the sport of track and field wasn't exactly a pleasant experience. As a freshman at Timken Senior High School, Kling ran the 800 and threw the discus, but it was a relay that left a sour taste in his mouth.

Jimmy Stephens steps down as USC Upstate coach Aug 20, 2011

SPARTANBURG -- After serving as the head coach of the Spartan men's and women's track & field and cross country programs for five seasons, leading the programs into NCAA Division I, starting the track & field program from scratch, and enjoying a tremendous amount of success, Jimmy Stephens has announced that he is stepping down as head coach of the programs at USC Upstate effective Sept. 5.
