State Championships 2005

These rankings are based on performances entered as of Nov. 13. If you see an athlete missing that has a performance that is entered, their graduation year is not entered. E-mail the graduation year to me and next time they will show up in the rankings when we publish them, based on performances from full meet results we have received.

Collins Hill (Ga.) junior Drouin Jackie finished first in the Sandhills Invitational girl\'s varsity race. Drouin covered the course in 18:29 with South Carolina\'s first runner being Chrystal Haire of Westminster Catawba, a member of the NCISAA. Haire (second), a senior finished ahead of the strength of Mauldin High runners Alyssa Kulik (third), Hannah Morgan (fourth) and Lauren Klas (fifth) in 18:39.

Joel Barnett is a junior at Riverside High School. Barnett finished first at the Region 3-3A Championships Oct. 19 at Union High School as the team captured the team title.

The 2005 regular cross country season concludes this Saturday with the state meet in Columbia. The meet is taking place at Sandhills Research Center.

Pendleton boys 1A/2A State Champions and girls Runner-Ups received a special homecoming Saturday evening.

Spring Valley senior Kate Niehaus captured her fourth straight 4A State Cross Country title Nov. 5 in Columbia. Niehaus holds the state meet best of 17:36.81, set at the 2003 state meet. The 2003 meet was held at Fort Jackson\'s Hilton Field.

These awards are based on the performances at the SCHSL State Championships held Nov. 5, at the Sandhills Research Center.

Spring Valley senior Kate Niehaus was awarded the state winner for the 2005 Wendy\'s High School Heisman Award.

Nicole Lewis is a senior at Midland Valley High School. Lewis finished eighth at the Class 3A State Meet. Lewis moved to South Carolina for the first time in July 2004 from Ohio.

Saturday, Nov. 27, was a great day of racing at McAlpine Park, in Charlotte, N.C., for the 2005 Footlocker South Regional.

Jeff Buys, 2005 Shrine Bowl Run Coach released the assignments for each athlete earlier today.

Spring Valley senior Kate Niehaus and Chris Scanlon, a senior at J.L. Mann were honored at the SCTCCCA coaches meeting, held earlier today in Columbia.
