The 2004 Coaches Classic was held at Spring Valley High School in Columbia on March 27. Spring Valley is hosting the 2004 state championships, along with the Taco Bell Classic in April. Excitement was brought to the track and field portions of the meet as several performances gained national exposure along with several marks moving up in the South Carolina standings.

The Coaches Classic meet is set for Saturday at Spring Valley High School in Columbia.

The two-day Nike Indoor Championships concluded today in Landover, MD. The Westside (Anderson) boys 4x55 hurdle relay team of Brandon Brown, Dennis Martin, ,Martez Brown and Mauricus Brown set a new meet record of 29.45 Saturday. The previous record was 30.20, set in 2002 by Wayne High School of Huber Heights, OH.

The track and field weekend season opened on March 6 with three meets taking place in South Carolina. Seven meet records fell at the GSP Relays, held at Dorman High School. Eileen Kilbreth has been coaching cross-country since 1984. Kilbreth, a Spartanburg Vikings\' Coach received National Coach of the Year Award by the National Federation of State High School Associations for 2003.

Westside High School, located in Anderson is taking 10 track and field athletes to the Nike Indoor Championships. The meet is taking place from March 13 and 14 in Landover, MD at Prince George\'s County Sportsplex.

A tradition is continuing this March 13-14 for South Carolina track and field athletes. In the past several well known athletes from the Palmetto State such as Summerville alumna Carre Joyce, now a senior at Villanova competed at the Nike Indoor Championships.

The NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Assocation) recently announced Spartanburg Methodist College as 2003 Division I Men\'s Cross Country Academic Team of the Year.

This year\'s Trojan Relays has been cancelled due to track and field facility renovations at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill. The current rubberized surface is 10 years old.
